Praise for So Far:

Compassion is the distinguishing characteristic of this fine collection. His verse deals movingly with people in the midst of painful personal changes, and, now and then, as "Gargoyle" and "John Hoyle," it modulates into serious and observant satire.
---Timothy Steele

His poems have an innate elegance; at the same time, they convey deep feeling. A lyric poet able to sound his own depths, Darling loves and understands other human beings as well. He deserves the widest possible hearing.
---X.J. Kennedy

Robert Darling's poems begin by appealing to the ear: musical, blessed with subtle half-rhymes, metrical playfulness and other signs of craft mastered and practiced, they capture attention and give repeated pleasure.
---Rhina Espaillat

After reading Robert Darling's So Far, one is tempted to respond with, So Good! Darling is a master of the elegy written for all of those passing moments that a lifetime turns out to be. This is a continually surprising and rewarding collection by one of our most interesting younger poets.
---Charles Martin
